Democrats should chose a centrist with executive experience who can win over independents and moderate Republicans

Finally, President Joe Biden realized that he had no path forward. The race to the White House became an impossible task for him because the debate disaster against Donald Trump undermined his eligibility. Unfortunately, Joe Biden endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris (*1964) as his possible successor. She has virtually no record, standing in the shadow of the president.

Kamala Harris was in charge of the immigration issue, but offered no path forward regarding the influx of migrants, arriving via Mexiko. The former attorney general and former senator of California lacks executive experience, except the years as VP, where she had not much to decide. For her speaks the fact that the money tied to the Biden-Harris 2024 presidential ticket could easily be used for her. However, many donors (rightly) prefer an open convention. May the best candidate win.

For Democrats, the best way forward is to chose a centrist politician with executive experience who can win over independents and moderate Republicans. A battleground state governor would probably offer the greatest chances for winning the White House as well as majorities in the House and the Senate.

Governor Josh Shapiro (*1973) of Pennsylvania, Governor Katie Hobbs (*1969) of Arizona or Governor Gretchen Whitmer (*1971) of Michigan — a large battleground state Democrats must win — are among the possible presidential candidates with substantial executive experience.

The convicted felon Donald Trump made the strategic error to chose J. D. Vance, a Mini-Me MAGA cheerleader with extreme views regarding abortion, protectionism, isolationism, Ukraine, etc. The Trump-Vance ticket is in an upswing, but only being put against Biden-Harris. They remain beatable by a new, fresh, young, competent Democratic candidate with executive experience. The cards will now be reshuffled. The old, misogynistic, xenophobic liar and divider Donald Trump (*1946) has many enemies. The age issue will again play an important role — this time working against the former president.

P.S. If it should come down to Trump vs. Harris, Kamala Harris is of course by far the better option than Donald Trump.
