The hard Brexiters aka Brexiteers suddenly look weak. Leading Leave supporters such as Boris Johnson changed their view regarding PM Theresa May’s deal and regard it now as the least-worst option. They are afraid of an even softer Brexit deal or even ending up with Remain.
Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the hard Brexiteer European Research Group (ERG), said he would only support the deal if the 10 MPs of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) from Northern Ireland did so. But, so far, the DUP leader Arlene Foster refuses to support May’s deal.
The hard Brexiteers looks weak. This, PM May’s offer to resign if her deal goes through and other events lead some commentators and some in parliament to the conclusion that they can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s hope it’s not a train coming their (and our) way.
